I've lost my phone

Reflex 1: verification

Did you search everywhere? Bags, pockets, sofa ... unsuccessful? Your iphone is not under the cushion? Truly not ? To avoid any inconvenience, do not waste time and take the following steps.

Reflex n ° 2: attempt localization

Before hanging up your line, first try to locate your cell phone. Some operators or manufacturers offer a location system for your mobile phone. Now is the time to check!

Reflex n ° 3: suspend the line

If your mobile phone remains untraceable, the urgency is to suspend your line in order to avoid unpleasant surprises on your next bill. You will then have to go to the store or contact your operator to renew your SIM card.

Reflex n ° 4: in case of theft, file a complaint

In order to file a complaint with the Police or the Gendarmerie, take the IMEI number of the telephone that appears on your purchase invoice or on the packaging box of your mobile phone. It is essential that this number be mentioned on your complaint.

Then send your operator a copy of the complaint by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt. This will avoid being financially responsible for out-of-package communications.

Reflex n ° 5: insurance

If you have purchased special insurance for your mobile phone, report its loss or theft to your insurer.

Reflex 6: prevention

Here are the 4 things to do in order to anticipate any problem with your next smartphone:

• Write down the telephone numbers of your operator's Customer Service (in your diary, your passport: elsewhere than on your phone!) So that you can react quickly.

• If your mobile phone does not have one natively, acquire a small software or an application which will allow you to locate it, block it and possibly erase it.

• Write down your secret code to interrogate your answering machine from another phone.

• Write down your IMEI number: mentioned on your purchase invoice, on the packaging box of your mobile phone or by typing * # 06 # on your phone.

Reflex n ° 7: find my IMEI number or my SIM card number

• IMEI: The IMEI number, consisting of 15 to 17 digits, is present on the box of your phone and also on the purchase invoice. If you no longer have the telephone box or the purchase invoice, you can return to the store where you bought your mobile in order to request a new one. As a last resort, you will need to contact your customer service operator.

• SIM: The SIM card number, made up of 12 to 20 digits, appears on your invoice and your contract (accessible from your customer area).
